CENTRAL UTILITY PLANT
The Central Utility Plant is sited in close proximity to both a new and existing medical towers at Jacobs Medical Center, adjacent to wetlands in a serene canyon environment. The central plant was designed to be unimposing on the natural setting and to minimize impact to the environment. Its position in the canyon makes it highly visible – both hospital towers look down on it as do residences to the south. In response to this, the roof became the fifth elevation of the building and one of the most important design components.
