We have been shortlisted by the General Services Administration for a new Federal Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. The facility will have about 600,000 gsf and a construction budget of $322 million. This courthouse aims to be heralded in both design and construction excellence and be a focus of pride for the Los Angeles community, as well as the nation. The GSA strives for the courthouse to be a functional, innovative, sustainable, cost-effective, state-of-the-art, court facility that will contribute to the overall design quality of downtown Los Angeles.

The project will be delivered using the Design Build method, and we are teamed with Hensel Phelps who recently built Cannon Design’s Kaiser Anaheim project and the San Diego Federal Courthouse. Yazdani Studio is the design architect, with Mehrdad Yazdani serving as lead designer, and Gruen Associates will be the architect of record. A big thank you to our team including ARUP and Rios Clementi Hale for contributing to the success of our submittal. Our next step is the design competition among the other shortlisted teams, which will proceed over the next three months.

Thanks and congratulations to Mehrdad, Craig Booth, Gregory Fischer, Paul Gonzales, Bee Rarewala and Scott Reed who collaborated on a fabulous proposal, and laid the groundwork for a great pursuit. Now the hardest work is ahead of us!
